Network Waitangi Whangarei Incorporated:

$1,000 to fund two public fora reflecting on the Treaty relationship

Waitangi Day Commemorations Committee:

$83,000 to fund a dawn Karakia, flag raising, Waka Karakia, sports events, Karakia, 21 gun salute, Waka ki Uta, and sunset ceremony.

Waitangi National Trust:    

$22,500 to fund a three day long festival including food, art and craft stalls, live music, sports matches and team events, as well as Navy parades, cultural performances, children's attractions and picnic opportunities.

Te Hana Community Development Charitable Trust

$1,500 to fund a commemoration of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, by holding a community day celebration at Te Hana on Tuesday 6th February. A mid morning combined church service for the community and local tangata Whenua, Rodney college and primary school children.  Invited dignitaries and guest speakers from Rodney District Council, (Mayor and council representatives), iwi representatives from around the Kaipara, including other tribal reps. Local & further afield entertainment groups (whanau, school kapahaka performances) stores art & crafts, traditional foods, stores etc

Nga Marae Rima O Whangaruru     

$1,500 to funda waka ama event starting with Karakia, followed by a Wananga; then dingy, kayak, boogie board and swimming sprints, concluding with a Hakari and concert.

Toi o Manukau -Māori Arts and Culture Trust     

$10,000 to fund a multi cultural programme of music, onsite treaty information site. Traditional and contemporary Maori Arts workshop, food, craft stalls and art.

New Zealand Tamil Senior Citizens Association Inc

$1,000 to fund a "Commemoration of the signing of the Treaty and How it promotes nation building and community building" discussion, on re-implementation of Treaty, talks on Treaty, cultural programme

Helensville Te Awaroa Women’s Centre

$1,000 to fund a visit to The Old Courthouse at Helensville Museum for overview of recent Waitangi Tribunal Hearings, followed by harbour trip to Kaukapakapa identifying historic Maori and pakeha sites and the significance of place names.

Waitakere City Council

$2,000  to fund a marae open day at Hoani Waititi Marae, including guest speakers, marae experience, hangi, and kapa haka

Tamaki Ngati Kapo Inc

$2,000 to fund a multi-cultural event with food stalls, arts and crafts, iwi information, and information about the Treaty. Plays themed around the Treaty will be performed in the afternoon, concluding with an afternoon tea and Karakia.

Auckland Workers Educational Association

$1,000 to fund a combination of static displays, free resources, and interactive events at libraries throughout the Auckland region to promote greater understanding of the Treaty

The New Zealand Thirumurugan Temple Society Inc    

$1,000 to fund a release a Tamil translation of the Treaty, a speech competition for children on the Treaty, a family sports day on Waitangi Day, and a cultural concert shortly after Waitangi Day

Challenge Trust     

$1,000 to fund a two day event featuring workshops on the Treaty, entertainment and food

Ngati Whatua Orakei Corporate Ltd

$5,000 to fund a day of celebration to include dawn ceremony, speeches, children's entertainment, kapa haka, musical entertainment, and kai and merchandise stalls

Te Runanga o Kirikiriroa Trust

$10,000 to fund a day of celebration with live entertainment, treaty forum, waka display, international forum, youth dance competition, food, arts and crafts stalls and other entertainment.

Waka Tangata Trust    

$2,000 to fund aWaitangi Day picnic at Maketu Marae. Kawhia, incorporating whanau togetherness, bringing together wider community to celebrate Waitangi Day with sharing a waka experience and culture and sport.

Kawhia Tourism Trust       

$3,000 to fund a 6th annual Kawhia Traditional Maori Food Festival. Maori foods from land and sea including all day family entertainment, Maori arts and crafts, bands, and kapa haka.

Raukawa Trust Board        

$2,000 to fund a wild food and music festival, run jointly with South Waikato District Council and Raukawa Young Leaders.

Congolese Community of Waikato Incorporated    

$500 to fund a performance of Congolese music and to cook Congolese African food. Aims to encourage the whole community to participate in the commemoration of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi

Hamilton Multicultural Services Trust      

$1,000 to fund an introduction to Maori culture, history, reo, and heritage for refugees, migrants and wider community. Includes waiata practise, and marae protocols over two days to be followed with celebrations and cultural performances on Waitangi Day

Manaia Volunteer Rural Fire Force and First Response Unit

$1,000 to fund a two day celebration with music, food stalls, sports competitions, cultural performances, hangi, workshops and crafts

Tauranga District Council/Tauranga Moana Waitangi Day Committee

$1,000 to fund a community dawn ceremony on the summit of Mauao (Mt Maunganui), followed by breakfast at Whareroa Marae.

Whakatane District Council

$5,000 to fund a cultural festival to include an official opening from Government officials and information sharing about the Treaty of Waitangi. There will also be a waka ama/sport competition, road safety event, cultural dance/song and food from ethnic groups and a river festival.

KaPai Kaiti Trust    

$2,500 to fund a one day Waitangi Dau community event includes local artists and craftspeople, local entertainers, sports activities, speech competition, stalls, food and Treaty Trivia Quiz

The Māori Millennium Committee          

$7,000 to fund a day for Ngati Kahungunu Iwi and the greater community to gather to commemorate the Treaty and celebrate family, community and nationhood. Including River Pageant, waka rides, entertainment, multi-cultural craft and food fair and children's activities

St Francis Co-operating Parish of Clive-Haumoana      

$150 to fund an ecumenical service at St Francis church, Clive.

E Tu Elgin

$1,000 to fund a community Day with activities including sporting activities, arts and crafts, bouncy castle. Treaty of Waitangi quiz, on-going music and entertainment and free food.

Napier City Council      

$2,000 to fund the annual Ahuriri Fish Hook Festival, blessing of the fleet, waka ama, canoe racing, sprat fishing, fun activities, and entertainment culminating in evening fireworks

New Plymouth District Council

$7,000 to fund a dawn ceremony followed by a community breakfast. The day includes a full stage programme, workshops on the Treaty, arts and crafts stalls, food stalls, education, childrens flag painting, bouncy castle.

Pae pae in the Park

$3,000 to fund a music festival with national and local talent on display. It is Patea's main social event of the year which is held in a fantastic atmosphere of warmth and celebration.

Palmerston North City Council

$7,000 to fund a powhiri followed by a free all day concert, Maori cultural activities, Maori tours, interactive displays and an art exhibition. Variety of indigenous food and kapa haka. A fun filled day in a family relaxed atmosphere, to experience old and new traditions and commemorate an important day in New Zealand history.

Hinengakau Development Trust

$2,500 to fund a day of celebration with stalls, entertainment, children's activities, touch rugby and waka races.

Taumata Hauora Trust

$5,000 to fund celebrating Waitangi Day with a family festival fun day, including fun activities, food and craft stalls, exhibitions by local artists, and a waka regatta. Ends with an evening of entertainment on the river.

Porirua Community Arts Council Inc

$10,000 to fund a major Festival of the Elements building on the experience of more than 10 years organising the event. The festival uses art forms and entertainment to celebrate the cultural diversity of the city and New Zealand.

Orongomai Marae Community Centre Incorporated

$2,000 to fund the Orongomai Marae Open Day. Speaker on the Treaty of Waitangi. Marae open to whole community, ethnic groups performing, hangi, day of celebration.

Wellington Tenths Trust

$6,000 to fund a free open air community festival incorporating entertainment from cultural groups, kapa haka, arts and crafts stalls, food stalls

Te Runanganui o Taranaki Whanui ki te Upoko o Te Ika a Maui

$10,000 to fund a community day to celebrate Waitangi Day. Performances by local musical groups and established performers, cultural displays, health exhibitions, kapa haka, and sports.

Masterton District Council

$2,000 to fund an afternoon with free admission with music, dance, food and art representing and celebrating the different ethnic groups of the community

Rangiatea Pastorate Church

$1,000 to fund a morning church service followed by lunch and other activities including church guided tours

ESOL Home Tutors (Hutt) Incorporated

$100 to fund a class meeting between two Social English classes (pupils mainly immigrants) to celebrate Maori culture, with a member of the Maori community, and discussing the Treaty of Waitangi.

Onetahu Kokiri Marae 

$800 to fund an open day at the Marae with speakers, weaving, singing, instrument making and painting

Waikawa Marae Inc       

$1,000 to fund a whanau Fun Day with powhiri, entertainment, bouncy castle, kapa haka, stalls and BBQ

Kawatiri Womens’ Welfare League

$1,000 to fund a family/whanau fun day featuring land waka races, games, and a hangi

Grey District Waitangi Day Community Picnic

$2,000 to fund an annual event run with local iwi which involves music, cultural experiences, free activities and food. The day opens with a commemoration of the spirit of Waitangi Day and is a celebration of togetherness and diversity.

Okains Bay Māori & Colonial Museum  

$5,000 to fund formal celebrations between Crown and Iwi involving Waka. Also cultural groups, entertainment, hangi, brass band, shearing demonstration and stalls.

Belfast Community Network Inc.    

$3,000 to fund a combined church service followed by an open day at Willowbank wildlife park. The picnic area will host community information kiosks featuring Treaty information, local history and environment stalls as well as entertainment for children.

Christchurch Art Gallery      

$2,000 to fund a commemoration day including Maori performers, story-telling, face painting, printmaking workshops, wearable arts and multi-cultural performances.

Christchurch City Council   

$5,000 to fund Classical Sparks - an annual music festival encompassing cultural entertainment, including kapa haka, and fireworks

Ashburton Art Gallery Incorporated  

$500 to fund a commemorative Waitangi Day exhibition of collaborative artworks which celebrate partnerships

Amuri Area School

$200 to fund a duathlon - walk/run and cycling - celebrating Treaty of Waitangi and Te Reo

$3,000 to fund a multicultural event to commemorate Waitangi Day with powhiri, waka ama, contemporary New Zealand music, taonga puroro, te reo workshops and market

$3,000 to fund a day of celebration to include entertainment, Maori and Western cuisine, cultural performances, sharing of local Treaty information, activities, and a full Maori waka

$500 to fund a bus trip for learners, volunteers, committee members to visit Riverton and nearby areas, to make them aware of the history of Maori and European settlement. Also visiting Riverton Museum and Oraka Aparima Runaka.

$5,000 to fund Waitangi Day celebrations involving powhiri, iwi parade, mahi toi, tug of war, relays and quiz's, hangi, and touch games
