New Zealand Film Archive - Ngā Kaitiaki O Ngā Taonga Whitiāhua

 

An independent charitable trust formed in 1981, the New Zealand Film Archive’s main purpose is collect, protect and project New Zealand’s film and television history.

The Film Archive focuses on the housing of documentaries, home movies, newsreels, television commercials, feature and short films, music videos, television programmes and associated material.  Their main base is in Wellington with a public site also in Auckland.

The Film Archive receives approximately 50 per cent of its funding from the Crown, through the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and the Lottery Grants Board.
