Here are details about the various types of funding provided by the Ministry.
Search for funding
This section features the Cultural Funding Guide that you can search online. It covers awards for both individuals and organisations. Developed in conjunction with Creative New Zealand, Te Papa's National Services Te Paerangi and the Funding Information Service, it is a comprehensive guide to funding within the cultural sector.

Ministry grants & awards
We offer four contestable funds including the New Zealand History Research Trust and New Zealand Oral History awards for history projects. The Commemorating Waitangi Day fund supports events that commemorate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi while promoting nation and community building. All three awards are offered on an annual basis, so check this website for information about application dates.
The Regional Museums Policy for Capital Construction Projects provides funding towards capital construction projects, prioritising those few museums and art galleries holding collections of the greatest national significance.

Agencies we fund
We manage government funding provided to some of New Zealand's most iconic and popular cultural organisations. These range from the Royal New Zealand Ballet to the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. The Ministry provides advice to our Ministers on the performance of organisations and also work with the boards and management of these agencies. You will find information about agencies' boards and how you can submit your details to the Ministry's Appointments and Governance team.
