Kippenberger University Scheme (Regular Force)

Purpose and objectives

Eligiblity

To be eligible for this tertiary scheme you need to be between the ages of 17 and 22 and have at least 70 or more NCEA credits at Level 3 over 5 subjects, with 35 credits or more at Merit or Excellence, or have achieved a B Bursary. This is a 3 year scheme (depending on degree type) and is completed at Massey University, Palmerston North.

If you have already completed 1 or 2 years at university you are still eligible for this scheme.

Study must be undertaken at Massey University, with most programmes of study acceptable.

Purpose

The Kippenberger Scheme is a four year residential degree and commissioning course programme. After completion of Initial Officer Training, applicants undertake an approved undergraduate degree at Massey University as a member of the Kippenberger Class, based at Linton Military camp (Palmerston North).

There is only one Officer intake per year and it begins in January. You should look to apply at least three months prior to Officer Selection Boards which are held in July, September and December.

Conditions of acceptance

At the completion of your studies you will then attend the NZCC at Officers Cadet School (OCS-NZ) and graduate as an officer in the Regular Force.
After graduation you will be subject to a four year return of service.

Additional information

While undertaking your study, the New Zealand Army will pay for all course related costs. You will be expected to maintain a good grade average and complete military training as required. During the university holidays you will either undergo leadership or adventure based training with the opportunity to take programmed leave.
