What We Do

Our work is as diverse as the sector we support. We research New Zealand and provide rich online resources like Te Ara — the Encyclopedia of New Zealand. We produce books, advise government and look after New Zealand's national treasures. We tend to work behind the scenes, helping the people and organisations that contribute to making our culture thrive.

    New Zealand is the Guest of the Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair this year. Learn more about this exciting opportunity for our country. In March, 10 Kiwi authors attended the annual Leipzig book fair, as New Zealand launches a year of cultural events in Germany.

    New Zealand is going digital. The first regions to go completely digital will be Hawke’s Bay and the West Coast of the South Island in September 2012. By the end of 2013 we’ll all be watching digital TV.
