What is Intended to be Achieved with this Appropriation

This appropriation is intended to achieve engagement with New Zealanders about the nation’s cultural and audiovisual taonga through high-quality exhibitions, screening, events and outreach activities.

* While this target was not reached, Ngā Taonga has managed to maintain a respectable 43% cinema occupancy at its screenings. Changes in measuring tools used, a lower than expected uptake in some key programmes and barriers to measuring social media interaction effectively are some of the factors that has impacted on audience size achieved.
