It’s been a long space between emails, so we’d like to let you know what we’ve been up to and what’s coming up. We hope you’ve all been keeping warm in the snowy weather!
Feedback on the River of Arts meeting
It was great to see so many of you at the meeting on July 19. We got excited about your creative ideas for projects, festivals, and ways to keep our city and the arts going, as well as letting you know about the River of Arts idea. The draft Central City Plan
The draft Central City Plan is out!
To have a look at it and find out how it affects you, go to http://www.centralcityplan.org.nz/. Along with other sectors, the Plan talks about the arts and arts projects, especially in the City Life chapter. Do you agree with them? Do you think they need to be changed? Either way, we’d love you share your ideas or comments about the plan, so the Council will get a clear idea of what you want and need when we rebuild our city.
The Plan will be used to rebuild the city over the next 10 to 20 years, so it’s really important that you have your say. We’re working hard to develop a submission that reflects your ideas and projects, so the arts can be front and centre in our new city.
To make a comment, click on the ‘Make a comment here’ box on the Plan’s website. You can do this until Friday September 16, when the consultation period ends.
What happens next?
There are two ways you can find out more about the Central City Plan:
- The City Council is holding briefings about the plan next week for everyone involved in the arts next week.
- We are holding meetings after the Council briefings to let you know how we’re going to present a submission on your behalf, and hear your feedback.

Our next meetings
We’re keen to let you know about our submission, and to hear your feedback. To make this easier for you, our meetings will be right after the City Council’s briefings. They’ll be held:
