After recovering from the Stronger Christchurch World Buskers Festival – prepare yourself for more laughter and entertainment in the park with this year’s exciting Anthony Harper Summer Theatre production from 1 to 19 February.
Local actor Mark Hadlow, who is taking time out from his role as Events Production Manager at the Christchurch City Council to perform as a dwarf in Sir Peter Jackson’s film The Hobbit, is back in Christchurch to direct this year’s show.
Mr Hadlow says The Outwits production, The Complete History Of Christchurch Abridged (CHOCA), will be a “great show that will have people in fits of laughter”.
“It’s a light-hearted look at Christchurch – our recent history, including the current earthquake situation, as well as right back to the colonists and Ngāi Tahu – and it will all be done in under 90 minutes.”
The Outwits, a well-known talented group, is made up of experienced performers, Greg Cooper, Jared Corbin and Andrew Ford. Mark Hadlow has also performed with The Outwits and has taken time out from his work on The Hobbit to direct this unique and inspiring performance as a way, along with the boys, of giving something back to the people of Christchurch.
“The event is free and will be a real treat for all local residents – whether Christchurch has been your home for 40 years or 40 days,” says Mr Hadlow. “So bring the family, a rug to sit on, a picnic, your sense of humour – and enjoy a wonderful performance in the beautiful garden surroundings.”
