Hawke’s Bay and the West Coast of the South Island have gone digital and Wellington along with the rest of the lower North Island will be following suit on 29 September 2013.
After 29 September 2013 everyone in Wellington and across the lower North Island who wants to watch TV will need to have Freeview, SKY, Igloo or TelstraClear. When Hawke’s Bay and the West Coast made the switch to digital in September an estimated 96 per cent of households were ready for the move.
While there is still some time before Wellington goes digital it pays to start thinking now about how you plan to watch TV after 29 September 2013 if you haven’t yet gone digital says Going Digital Community Adviser Guy Burns.
Mr Burns will be at the Wellington Central Library on Tuesday 5 February 2013 between 11am – 2pm to answer questions about the move to digital TV.
There were people in Hawke’s Bay and the West Coast who left the move to digital TV until the last minute and when they sought help from technicians or installers they found there was a long wait to get sorted.
“You don’t need a new TV to go digital but most people who don’t have digital TV will need some new equipment such as the right set-top box and an aerial or satellite dish,” said Mr Burns.
“To find out what you need to go digital visit www.goingdigital.co.nz/myhouse and enter the address where the TV is located,” said Mr Burns.
For more details on how you can go digital, chat with Mr Burns when he visits the Wellington Central Library on 5 February. Alternatively you can go to www.goingdigital.co.nz or call us on 0800 838 800.
