Sound files

Published 20 June, 2011 by Editor

As New Zealand has three official languages we have three different versions of our anthem. On this page you will find English and Māori versions along with a YouTube clip featuring the anthem using the New Zealand Sign Language.

The first two sound files include performances by the New Zealand National Youth Choir and Frankie Stevens.  Contact us if you have any problems accessing these files.

We've also provided sound files from a Ministry of Education resource (The New Zealand National Anthem : versions of our National Anthem for use in schools) which features Hinewehi Mohi and Antony Pickard (adult's version) and Holly Walmsley and Ronald Karaitiana (children's version).

Other performers include Ngati Poneke's Junior Kapa Haka group and members of Rangatahi Purotu. These tracks were first published by Learning Media Ltd. Contact Learning Media for any copyright requests.

The backing track featured on The National Anthem of New Zealand CD, was produced by the Department of the Internal Affairs in 2000.  This instrumental only version was arranged by David Dell and is reproduced with permission of David Raymond Dell.
