MINISTRY FOR CULTURE AND HERITAGE
5 March, 2004
Ministry for Culture and Heritage Chief Executive Martin Matthews announced today that the Ministry's recommendation for the new licence holder of UHF TV Channel 40, Wellington is Triangle Television Wellington Ltd.
Mr Matthews said, “Applications for the new licence all had individual merit, but the Ministry considers that Triangle Television Wellington Ltd is the broadcaster that can best deliver on the Government's non-commercial broadcasting objectives for the people of Wellington.”
“Triangle Television's application assures us that they will provide a sustainable and viable service for the new Wellington channel through their proven successful track record in operating a regional community television service in the Auckland community.”
“While an on-air date is yet to be confirmed, Wellington viewers can look forward to a rich and diverse access style television station with significant local content produced by and for the people of Wellington.”
