A digital gateway to New Zealand arts and culture - NZLive.com

You are a New Zealander wanting to find out more about a contemporary artist and where you might see her work. You’re a tourist interested in traditional Māori carving and planning a trip to New Zealand to see this work. You’re a student studying James K. Baxter and want to research his life. Where do you start?

You will be able to find all this information on a single, easily accessed and easy to navigate site – NZLive.com.

The aim is to connect people to a broad range of events and activities, including museum exhibitions, theatre performances, ballet, musicals, concerts, kapa haka, festivals, historic places and sports.

The project, announced by Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Helen Clark in December last year, is a major Ministry initiative and will provide a co-ordinated, one-stop web presence for government, private sector and community cultural enterprises.

NZLive.com delivers benefits to both the cultural sector and the tourism industry as increasingly travellers are using the internet to plan their itineraries and their destinations.

The site features an events guide with pathways to online booking and the purchase of cultural products, a directory of organisations and a cultural funding guide. NZLive.com is a work in progress, adding new content and offering new services as new opportunities emerge.
