Update on Crown Entity Compliance Cost Review Group's recommendation on the frequency of Statements of Intent (SOI)

Social Media Guidance for Government Agencies

With the aim to encourage best practice in Government agencies for social media use new guidance is now available on the Public Service Internet.

Changes to the Copyright Act

Changes to the Copyright Act came into law 1 September 2011.  These changes are relevant to organisations as any usage that infringes the Act can have their internet link suspended.  Full explanation of the implications.

Notes from the Senior Managers' meeting

The senior managers' meeting covered a debrief from the chairs' meeting, Ministerial expectations and ho agencies may respond to this.  Information was provided on WAI 262 and the research work the Cultural Sector Performance Unit is embarking on.  Capacity work and assistance along with what is on the reporting horizon for agencies rounded off the session

Culture and Happiness

The Treasury is launching its Working Towards Higher Living Standards Framework.  The Framework is centred on four main capital stocks - financial/physical, human, social, and natural - from which we derive flows of material and non-material goods and services which enhance living standards .   The Framework describes the interrelationships among the stocks and flows, and highlights the need for responsible management in order to improve the living standards of both current and future New Zealanders.  Read a Dominion-Post news story about this work.

Changes to approved mileage rates

Intended to reflect a reasonable estimate of vehicle use the IRD has announced an increase in the approved mileage rate for use of private use of vehicles from 70 cents to 74 cents per kilometre effective 27 April 2011.

The Ministry has a new logo.  Information on its use and to download versions is available on our website.

Updated Annual Report Guidance

The Guidance and Requirements for Crown Entities – Preparing the Annual Report has been updated as at February 2011.  This replaces the previous guidance issued in June 2009.

Cultural Philanthropy Report released

Six key recommendations are featured in the cultural philanthropy task force report Growing the Pie released in late December 2010. Growing the Pie press release from Minister Finlayson.
