Join us to commemorate Anzac Day 2024 at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park, Wellington. Events include the Dawn Service at 6.00am and the National Commemorative Service at 11.00am. Services will both be broadcast live by TVNZ 1 and RNZ National.

For those wanting to join the Anzac Day parade at the Dawn Service, veterans are asked to assemble on Tasman Street by 5.30am.

Road Closures and Parking Restrictions on Anzac Day

  • Tasman Street, Mt Cook (between Tory Street and Rugby Street):  Road closed from 3.00am to 2.00pm
  • Tory Street, Mt Cook (between Tasman Street and Haining Street):  Road closed from 3.00am to 2.00pm
  • Rugby Street, Mt Cook (between Tasman Street and Sussex Street):  Restricted parking from 3.00am to 2.00pm
  • Haining Street/Frederick St/Martin Square:  Detours in place from 3.00am to 2.00pm
  • Martin Square, south side:  Restricted parking from 3.00am to 2.00pm
  • Lambton Quay northbound, between Bowen Street and Bunny Street closed to all traffic except buses from 5.00am to 12.00pm.  No left turn from Bowen Street onto Lambton Quay. 

People who are in the parade should assemble in Tasman Street by 5:30am. People taking part in the parade who cannot walk to Rugby Street can be dropped off at the intersection of Rugby and Tasman streets. This can be accessed from the Basin Reserve or Tasman Street via John Street. No parking will be available in this area.

As it is a public holiday, free parking will be available in all metered car parks.

Access to Atatürk Memorial

A shuttle service will be running from Bowes Crescent carpark to the memorial site for any members of the public who require assistance. Otherwise, there will be no restriction to pedestrian access.

Anzac Day official messages

Organisers of Anzac Day commemorations may wish to include the official messages from Prime Minister, Rt Hon Christopher Luxon and the Governor-General, Her Excellency The Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro. These may be printed in orders of service or read out at commemorations. Please do not republish or broadcast these messages before 25 April 2024.
